To Read, Only To Be Deceived

Your hall is a wound,
a prattling
rift in space
I sense
from each stint
of the grid.
I avoid the
block; even air
barely abides
me there,
poisoned by base
need, veiled only
by my antiqued
tendency toward
naïveté.

What a world war's
worth of pain
you have
waged

effortless
to walk away
unscathed,
moths starving
at your
bookshelves
stalking beady eyes
by day by night,
dark angels
by your
bedside. Now

I know why they
reigned you in;
a sham
a charlatan,
pages crumbing,
casting about for
the coming end.
You were
some cruel

something hiding in
the stacks,
smile never
masked your
lust or your
loathing but for
my unopened hand,
palm an
Alexandrian
expanse
illegible for
mold.

dug on this nicely, those moments we share with inanimate objects that sometimes give you more than those of flesh and pulse, enjoyed the lock, the stock, and smokey barrel..well done.

The [not] first of parallel universe libraries, where notions read better than mere books.
