Had to abandon my plans for world conquest when I realized I had bills & rent to pay. Painting the fence is quite the task these days. Often you bring thought to a screeching halt, always in a good way for me. No matter how dark you get, I get an icy-but-positive sensibility from your writing. In a way, you tell it like it is. Cerebral effort tinged with grumbling emotions. Always thoroughly enjoyed.

"Beaten lions" evokes a very submissive image, dominant members of the pride, reeling, I guess even the apex can know futility. Minimal expression, maximum impact.

Heavy with defeat and imagery... a succinct piece. I really like this one.
